Cooperation with industrial partners and leading research and development require non-disclosure agreements protecting individual partners against competitive disadvantages. The resulting restrictions with respect to publications and lectures, however, have disadvantageous consequences in terms of scientific evaluation. This often leads to a situation in which results are evaluated in reports and cannot be published. The Institute of Nonferrous Metallurgy at the University of Leoben, Austria, has nevertheless managed to present its research results in a wide variety of publications and presentations.
