Christian Doppler Laboratory for Deformation-Precipitation Interactions in Aluminium Alloys

Project managers:

Irmgard Weißensteiner

The Christian Doppler Laboratory for Deformation-Precipitation Interactions in Aluminum Alloys (CDL-DEPICT-Al) is dedicated to the development of sustainable, high-performance aluminum alloys with a higher recycled content. In cooperation with AMAG rolling GmbH and funded by the Christian Doppler Research Association, research is being conducted on aluminum as a key material for lightweight construction to reduce emissions and energy consumption. The use of recycled aluminum saves up to 95% in energy, but poses a challenge due to unavoidable impurities.

National and international collaborations with universities broaden the scope of research and support the development of solutions to the challenges facing the aluminum industry.
