Annually 50 Mt of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) accrue worldwide with an upward trend. Due to the high concentrations of contained valuable metals (such as copper, precious metals, rare earth elements, etc.) the development of an appropriate recycling process constitutes an economic advantage. The complexity and diversity of these feedstocks as well as their content of environmentally dangerous and deleterious substances are important factors inducing challenges for their reprocessing. Hence researches are required in the process development for pyro- und hydrometallurgical techniques to acquire a treatment of its best. Thereby special regard will be put on the further processing of the different products (metal, slag, dust).
