Complex residues from the copper-, lead- and zinc-industry contain next to the mass metals so-called “minor elements” such as gold, silver, PGM as well as indium and germanium. These elements can display the cause for the economic viability of recycling these industrial residues. The PhD thesis includes a detailed characterization of selected residues and the fact-based evaluation of a possible recovery for these “minor elements” parallel to the mass metals in a metal-bath process. Furthermore the development of new recycling concepts for a selective valuable metal extraction represents the field of research.
